Add a Part A inpatient deductible of $1,736 per benefit period, Part D drug costs, and potential Medigap premiums — and Medicare becomes one of the largest line items in retirement. Note: One deductible per benefit period — not per admission. A benefit period ends 60 days after discharge with no inpatient care.
